Can The Simpsons Predict The Future? | The History of Conspiracy Theories

One of the most widely-believed conspiracy theories is actually in regards to The Simpsons. While it seems mild on the surface, this conspiracy goes all the way to the top. From time travel to the world’s elite, the theories surrounding this conspiracy theory are endless. Throughout this episode, I’m going to do a deep dive on why people believe The Simpsons can predict the  future and the evidence behind it. As always, we’ll also be discussing the psychology that goes hand-in-hand with conspiracies. Let’s travel back to December 1989 and meet America’s longest running sitcom family: The Simpsons.

Spooky Season Special: The History of Mental Health in Horror Movies

Horror movies are some of my favorites. Actually, they’re almost all I watch lately. Something that I’ve been meaning to talk about is the way that mental health, diagnoses, and illnesses have been portrayed in horror movies. Some movies I have no issues with, as they use mental health as a side story or plot line respectfully. The media, in this case movies, that I have a problem with are those that seem to intertwine mental health issues with the “bad guy.” Can people with mental disorders be scary? Yes, like David Berkowitz as discussed on the last episode. However, it doesn’t sit right with me when mental health issues are a characteristic of the villain solely to add an element of fear. I do believe bad guys should be feared, especially Michael Meyers or Jason, but let’s take some time today to review the historical perspective of mental health in horror movies, and the wrong kind of representation.
